Our Cleveland Fall Bucket List Lookback šŸ

There’s something about fall in Cleveland that feels both fast and full. One minute you’re buying the first cider slushie of the season, and the next you’re watching leaves swirl down your street.

Back in September, we made a fall bucket list of all the places and traditions we wanted to squeeze in before winter. From apple picking and pumpkin patches to scenic drives and waterfalls, it felt ambitious (in true Collective fashion).

Now that the air’s turned chilly and the pumpkins in our front yard are ready to be carved, we’re looking back at what we actually checked off, and sharing a few favorites you’ll also spot in our Fall in Cleveland Guide.

Classic Fall Favorites

We managed to hit a lot of fall staples on our list this year & each one brought its own kind of magic.

šŸ© Hillcrest Orchards for ā€œattemptedā€ apple picking (plus the best donuts and an apple cider slushie I’ve been thinking about for over a month).
šŸŽƒ Patterson Fruit Farm, where we may or may not have gone overboard on pumpkins…
🌽 Szalay’s Farm, where we chose the hayride over the corn maze.
šŸ› Mapleside Farms for the big slide, sweeping views, and cozy fall vibes (oh, and a 7 minute downpour…).

šŸ And next up is Red Wagon Farm for our annual family visit. It’s always one of our favorite fall days, complete with pumpkins, hayrides, and a little bit of chaos (the fun kind).

These are the quintessential fall stops that make October in Northeast Ohio so special, and the reason they earned a spot in our seasonal guide in the first place.

Nature & Outdoor Adventures

We checked off a few of our favorite outdoor adventures this fall: Rocky River Reservation, Brandywine Falls, and Squire’s Castle never disappoint. Summer really held on this year (not complaining), and I couldn’t help but soak it in.

We even added a few bonus drives that weren’t technically on the list: Valley Parkway Drive, Route 303, and the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail, all classic Cleveland routes for soaking in fall color.

Spooky Season Specials

We kept things festive but not too frightening this year. Story Road Haunt and the Boo at the Zoo decorations were just the right mix of spooky and sweet. šŸ‘»

We also hit up a number of other locations (Giant Lego skeleton on River Road in Olmsted Falls, Elmwood in Bay Village, and a bit of a Halloween Decorations Crawl through North Olmsted (Ashbury Swamp on Ashbury Park Drive, Pirate Ship on Root Rd, CarnEvil on Paisley Drive, and the creepy butcher shop on Winding Creek Lane). Haunted houses can wait until our little ones are a bit older (my toddler’s bravery has limits šŸ˜…), but we loved seeing everyone’s creativity light up the neighborhoods

Fall with a Twist

We wrapped up the season with a few ā€œjust becauseā€ stops - Maria’s Field of Hope for the last of the sunflowers, Trust Coffee Co. for an Arnold Fall-mer, and Fragapane Bakery for apple and pumpkin donuts (because balance).

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. It’s funny how the simplest moments - a coffee stop, a walk, a short drive - end up being the ones we talk about the most. Those are the moments that make fall in Cleveland feel like home. šŸ’›

Looking Back

This season flew by in the best way - warm days, full hearts, and that unmistakable Cleveland magic.

We didn’t check every box, but that’s half the fun, plus there’s always next year (and maybe a few we’ll carry into winter).

If you’re still chasing the last bits of fall or planning your own local adventures, you can find plenty of family-friendly inspiration in our Fall in Cleveland Guide. But honestly, even a simple stop for cider or a slow drive under the trees counts as a win.

Here’s to another season of exploring, connecting, and creating memories… one adventure at a time. šŸ’™
