Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana
⭐ Granting Wishes Right Here in Cleveland
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes to children right here in our community? April is World Wish Month, and we're shining a Collective Kindness spotlight on the incredible work Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana (OKI) does for families across our region, including kids right here in Cleveland.
For children facing critical illnesses, a wish is more than a single moment of joy. Research shows that wishes can give children renewed strength and a sense of hope that supports them through treatment and beyond. And for families in the hardest seasons of their lives, a wish is a reminder that their community sees them, loves them, and is rooting for them.
Make-A-Wish OKI serves children with critical illnesses, granting wishes like trips, experiences, celebrity meet-and-greets, and so much more.
World Wish Month
April marks World Wish Month, the founding of Make-A-Wish, and the anniversary of the wish that started a movement. In 1980, 7-year-old Chris Greicius, who was battling leukemia, wished to be a police officer for a day. More than 45 years later, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 650,000 wishes nationwide.
Family-Friendly Ways to Help
One of the things we love most about Make-A-Wish is that there are meaningful ways for families, including your kids, to be part of the magic. Here are some ways to get involved this April:
Donate or Fundraise: Every gift helps fund a wish for a child in our community. Visit oki.wish.org/wwmdonate to give. You can also host your own giving page or engage a group or school to fundraise. Learn more here.
Volunteer: Make-A-Wish OKI needs volunteers to help with events, wish reveals, and more. It's a powerful experience for the whole family. Learn about ways to volunteer here.
Refer a child: Children between the ages of 2½ and 18 with a critical illness may be eligible for a wish. A referral can be made by a medical professional, parents or legal guardians, or a family member with detailed knowledge of the child’s medical condition. Visit oki.wish.org/referral to submit a referral online.
